FLEA PROBLEMS? THE BENEFITS OF HEAT LAMP TRAPS

Heat lamp flea traps have two useful actions: they trap the fleas on a sticky glue pad and provide monitoring. They benefit from being safe for children and pets and are non-toxic.

There are a number of scenarios where these traps are beneficial:

  1. If there is a suspicion of flea presence without a confirmed ID, the lamp mimics warm-blooded animals and can attract fleas from bedding and carpets over a 10-metre radius. COSHH rules prohibit the use of insecticides without definite evidence of presence, so a catch in a trap can allow the pest controller to enact a treatment plan.

  2. Where there is a recurring flea problem from pets, the traps can provide a useful indicator and allow for an early response. For example, a trap placed close to the dog's bed can be checked easily.

  3. They play an important role during and after treatment. Depending on the extent of infestation, a number of treatments might be required over a few weeks. The lamps are an additional catch resource, but can provide useful location and quantity indicators.

  4. There is no doubt that the presence of any pest species inside a property can be a great cause of anguish. An ongoing monitoring program after treatment can help with mental health and provide continuing evidence that there is no presence.

Three Counties Pest Control can provide an initial survey and monitoring service with prices from £80.

We specialise in non-toxic heat shock treatments which remove every stage of the flea lifecycle.
