The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: My First Year as a Pest Controller
I am someone who quite enjoys writing and sharing my knowledge is an important part of the service, so I do try to provide some helpful and relevant content.
Back in June 2022 I wrote an article entitled 'What Makes A Pest A Pest?'
It was based on an opinion piece written by BPCA Chief Executive Ian Andrew. The essence was this: "A rat can live freely as a rat wherever it chooses, so can a mouse, fly, cockroach, ant, flea or bird. It’s only when its location brings potential harm to us that the word ‘pest’ starts to apply. Being a pest is conditional on whatever risk exists."
Anyway, having written something based on the work of someone else - plagiarism as it is known, I decided to send Mr. Andrew and the BPCA a link and just ask if what I had written was okay. They generously said that it helped to contextualise the original piece and suggested that I write some reflections on my first year. So I did.
