TRAVEL BED BUG FREE THIS SUMMER
Be Proactive Before Vacation
A simple way a resident can protect their home from bed bugs is by installing mattress and box spring encasements, as well as interception devices under or next to all bed and furniture legs.
This is a great way to not only protect their beds from potential infestations but it will also help detect any bed bug infestations early on, saving time and money.
Be Smart When Traveling
When traveling, take the necessary cautions to help avoid bringing bed bugs home with them.
* Do a quick inspection of the hotel room and headboard. Look for bugs, spotting or cast skins. * DO NOT place luggage on the beds. Instead keep your luggage away from beds and furniture. * The best place to store luggage is usually in the tub in a bathroom.
Place all dirty laundry in a separate, sealed bag as bed bugs are attracted to the smell of dirty laundry.
What to Do When Returning Home
* Empty contents of luggage and launder them on a hot wash and dry cycle. * Place luggage in a black trash bag and keep sealed in a garage or basement for a few weeks. * If encasements or interceptors weren't installed prior to the trip, this is an opportune time to install them for optimal protection if bed bugs did hitchhike home with your clients.
